October means celebrating the arrival of Autumn, including changing leaves, fall food like apples and pumpkin pie and spooky activities to celebrate Halloween. At Shorewest, we’ve rounded out some of the best activities throughout southeastern and south central Wisconsin for you to enjoy this year.   • Franklin, Wisconsin. Experience four attractions for the price of one, including two haunted trails, one thrill ride on a run-down chair lift and Wisconsin’s first ever 3D zombie maze. It is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays in October , and $25 admits one person to all four haunted attractions.   • Hubertus, Wisconsin. Join Wisconsin’s longest running haunted house every Friday and Saturday night in October. The Hubertus House of Horror has been running for 30 years, with tours beginning at 7:00pm on Fridays and 6:30pm on Saturdays.   • Janesville, Wisconsin. The annual Janesville Community Haunted House is back for 2013. In a new location that’s three times the size, more haunted fun is sure to be had this year. Theme rooms, a haunted maze, scary monsters and the Vortex Tunnel are all available throughout the Halloween season for your scary enjoyment. With such a high scare factor, lights on matinees without scary monsters are vailable for younger children. Various dates can be found on Janesville Community Haunted House Facebook page.
  • Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Zombies are roaming the countryside and your mission as a survivor is to kill zombies and survive until the extraction team arrives. With three consecutive laser tag missions to complete over one hour, you’re sure to find adventure in the Haunted Forest at Geneva Ridge Resort.   • Sturtevant, Wisconsin. Visit seasonal favorite Apple Holler for group tours, apple picking, scarecrow building and delicious food. With so many activities to choose from, this family-friendly orchard is open every day of the week from 9:00am-6:00pm, with additional hours for various activities.   • Walworth, WisconsinPearce’s Farm Stand brings you The Haunt & Field of Terrors this year, two scary attractions to scare you throughout the Halloween season. After dusk, the creepy, chill-inducing haunted barn and haunted hayride through corn fields provide spooky entertainment all night long, while the barn will be open as a daytime haunt for younger children. Daytime activities include hayrides to the pumpkin patch to pick your own pumpkin as well as a giant hay fort for young kids and adults alike.   • West Allis, Wisconsin. Enjoy the Halloween Spooktacular at the Milwaukee County Zoo with tons of fun on October 26 from 6:00-9:00pm and October 27 from 9:00am-9:00pm. Have a “ghostly good time” enjoying all the activities, including a halloween haystack maze, raven’s rail ride aboard the safari train, meeting famous pirate Jack Sparrow, costume parade, bat presentations and even watch the animals receiving treat-filled pumpkins.   • West Bend, Wisconsin. Join author and paranormal researcher J. Nathan Crouch for downtown West Bend’s Ghost Walk. This 90 minute tour gives historical information blended with local legends and eyewitness accounts, including three stops new for the 2013 tour. Beginning each night at 8pm, visit the Ghost Walk website for all dates the tour is taking place.
  • Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. The annual Great Pumpkin Festival is a fun, family-focused event back for its annual Halloween celebration. From 6:00-9:00pm October 23-27, enjoy handpicking a pumpkin from the on-site patch and design, carve and light up your jack-o-lantern. Enjoy live music and food for purchase from two local eateries.
